Sweet Spot Productions Presents: I Found My Horn Directed by Harry Burton A man wakes up at 40 and finds only ashes - marriage broken, bedsit beckoning. Where did it all go wrong? Jasper Rees is having a midlife crisis. With nothing to show for his life, he hunts through his parents' attic for memories, and finds a French horn, neglected for the past 25 years. Propelled by his own sense of failure, he sets himself the daunting task of performing a Mozart horn concerto to a paying audience of French horn fanatics. Adapted from the semi-autobiographical book by Jasper Rees, this one-man stage show stars his co-author Jonathan Guy Lewis as the middle-aged dreamer, and all the people he meets on his journey of musical discovery. Lewis plays everyone from Rees' old school conductor, to Mozart himself. The quixotic story in 'I Found My Horn' is both moving and funny, receiving rave reviews from the press A familiar face from London's Burning, Soldier Soldier and Coronation Street, Lewis' debut play 'Our Boys' won The Writer's Guild Award for Best New Fringe Play. The play's director, Harry Burton, recently directed Harold Pinter's Dumb Waiter in the West End. '... a shot of pure joy' The Daily Telegraph 'This is a gem...virtuoso acting full of humour, controlled energy and a passion for music.' The Sunday Times
'A celebration of the joyous, life-affirming power of music…the play unfussily and unpretentiously encapsulates something of the indefinable elation that art can bring to the human existence. It is also very funny…a brassy burst of celebratory sound in honour of the imperfect and exhilarating business of being alive.' The Times
Tickets: £12 GA, £10 Concs, £9 Mem
