The Firestation Presents... Full Time Hobby Label Showcase with Tunng, The Leisure Society & Erland and The Carnival
Full Time Hobby are a successful independent label from London, who have put out some superb material from many an indemand artist. This exclusive concert will showcase three of their finest acts with a strong modern folk theme. Tunng Tunng, the headlining act, are a modern folk collective who cleverly merge old with new. Plucked banjos and trad vocals sit impressively well with electric guitars and electronic sampling. Having recently played Glastonbury this year, Tunng enthrall and charm audiences with their eccentric, innovative, heartfelt sounds. The Leisure Society Formed by Nick Hemming, who has composed music for Shane Meadow’s Dead Man Shoes – TLS have twice been nominated for the prestigious Ivor Novello Awards, and are a major part of this FTH line-up with their sublime, wistful folk. Brian Eno is an authentic fan of their music. And they do a great cover of Gary Numan’s ‘Cars’. Erland & The Carnival. Erland And The Carnival were formed by singer/guitarist Erland Cooper with ex-The Verve/Blur guitarist Simon Tong. Together, they produce a sound described as “Pentangle meets Ennio Morricone meets Love meets 13th Floor Elevators meets Joe Meek.” In other words: folk-tinged, psyched up, fuzzed-out brilliance. Tickets: £15.50/14/12 available from Theatre Royal Box Office, 01753 853 888. click here to be redirected to their website for online bookings
